Progress being made on Horwich Health Centre

It has been great to see the rapid progress on the construction of Horwich Health Centre in recent weeks.

The eagerly awaited health centre will improve our local healthcare provision and I am looking forward to seeing more progress being made.

Chris opens the new headquarters of Diamond Buses

It was great to open the new headquarters of Diamond Buses last week.

It’s fantastic having more people work in the town centre and having our old historic and listed buildings brought back to life.

Remembrance in Hulton

It was great to be out in Hulton last weekend putting up poppies with Shafi Patel, ahead of Remembrance Sunday.

I am grateful to all the volunteers across Bolton who have given their time to prepare for an incredibly important event.

Chris welcomes a Westhoughton banking hub

With the withdrawal of banks from our high street, it is welcome news that Westhoughton is getting a banking hub.

Whilst a decision has not yet been made on the location of the banking hub, work is underway to ensure that it is set up as soon as possible.

Chris visits Lostock Primary School during UK Parliament Week

It was fantastic to kick off UK Parliament Week with a visit to Lostock Primary School on Monday.

The pupils asked some terrific questions and it was great to see that they have such an interest in debating and how our Parliamentary democracy works.

150th anniversary of Wingates Band

The Wingates Brass Band celebrated their 150th anniversary with a superb concert at Bolton Parish Church last weekend.

It was a wonderful evening of music to celebrate a huge milestone for our very own world-class brass band.

Chris re-opens the Victoria Pub in Westhoughton

On Friday last week, I was delighted to re-open the Victoria Pub in Westhoughton.

It was great to meet the hard working team who have invested so much time to renovate this brilliant community asset.

Older Persons’ Fair

A big thank you to everyone who came to my Older Persons’ Fair last week.

It was fantastic to see so many organisations and charities come together in one room to provide advice and information for local people.

Another war will add to grim toll of lives taken

The horror of war has stalked a corner of Europe for five hundred days and counting.  We have seen the bloodshed and the cruelty and our hearts bleed for those suffering in Ukraine.

If this was not enough, war has returned to the Holy Land to multiply the grim toll of lives taken.

We need a sober approach to conflict resolution

We were shocked to see the horrors of war inflicted on the people of Ukraine last year and to witness its ongoing barbarism and cruelty.  Who would have thought that we would see those horrors magnified in the Middle East.
