The phrase ‘long term economic plan’ is frequently used by Conservative politicians both to state the nature of our ambition but also to distinguish us from the short termist Labour Party. The main areas are:
- Reducing the deficit so we deal with our debt so our children and grandchildren don’t have to.
- Cutting income tax and freezing fuel duty to help hardworking people be financially secure.
- Creating more jobs by backing small businesses, building infrastructure and lowering job taxes.
- Capping welfare and reducing immigration so the economy delivers for people who work hard and play by the rules.
- Delivering the best schools and skills so the next generation can succeed in work and business.
The Prime Minister, David Cameron, and the Chancellor, George Osborne, set out a vision for more jobs, better transport, science investment and quality of life which is at the heart of their long term economic plan for the North West.
Chris Green said “The North West of England is recovering from the Great recession and the investment we are seeing will ensure that our recovery strengthens and brings us the highly skilled jobs that we want.
“At the General Election, the biggest question is going to be about which political party can secure our future and ensure that businesses have the confidence to invest and create more skilled jobs.”
