Chris Green MP has hailed the UK’s record-breaking unemployment rate as a “jobs miracle” as it reaches below 4% for the first time since 1975.
New figures published by the Office for National Statistics have also shown that wages are growing at their fastest pace in ten years and the number of unemployed young people has nearly halved since 2010.
In response to the new figures, Mr Green said: “It is fantastic to see that the Conservative’s balanced approach to the economy is providing jobs for the next generation and school leavers.
“Not only this, 80 per cent of the new jobs created have been full-time, meaning that more people can have the stability of a good job and be able to provide for their family.
“Locally, there’s also a good story to tell, with the number of people claiming out-of-work benefits in my constituency dropping by a third since the Conservative’s entered government in 2010.”
