It’s been a busy start to Conservative Party Conference so far for me, meeting with lots of charities and organisations that do fantastic work for Bolton West & Atherton residents – although I did get chance on Sunday to take a bit of time off to play in the Lobby Journalists vs MPs football match (unfortunately we lost 5-2).
I also gave a speech at Transport for Greater Manchester’s reception about new proposals for bus services, which should improve the services currently in our area and provide the opportunity for audiovisual announcements which I know Atherton Guide Dog Training School will be interested to hear about. I also spoke about joined up thinking on transport so problems with the A5225 - where Wigan Council built their section but Bolton didn't - won't happen again. It was also great to meet Asthma UK earlier today to talk about their plans for investing in asthma research and innovation.
As Theresa May’s first Conference as Prime Minister, I was particularly pleased to hear her solid commitment to delivering the will of the British people and confirming that we will start the process of leaving the EU by March next year. This government under Theresa May is getting on with the job of striking the right deal for Britain abroad as we shape an ambitious global role that puts our country’s interests first.
