Chris Green MP and Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Liz Truss MP, paid a visit to Bolton-based business M&A Pharmachem this afternoon.

M&A Pharmachem, based in Westhoughton, have over 40 years of experience in manufacturing and exporting pharmaceuticals, including paracetamol and co-codamol.

Commenting on the visit, Mr Green said: “It was fantastic to visit M&A Pharmachem today with Liz Truss and learn more about the local business, which not only exports their goods globally but also creates good quality jobs for my constituents.

“During the visit, it was also interesting to hold a roundtable with members of staff who not only shared their experiences of working at M&A, but also gave their feedback to the Chief Secretary to the Treasury about their public spending priorities.

Gerard Pessagno, Managing Director for M&A Pharmachem said: “M&A Pharmachem are delighted to welcome Liz Truss MP and Chris Green MP to their manufacturing facility in Bolton.

“M&A welcome the opportunity to discuss the opportunities for growing British businesses with a technology and export focus such as M&A and particularly welcome our local MP’s interest and support.”

Investing in our high streets and backing business

Thanks to our balanced approach to the economy we can invest in our high streets and town centres. That’s why I’m working with the new Conservative council and local residents to regenerate Horwich and Westhoughton town centres and I’ll push Wigan Council to improve Atherton. Bringing empty shops back into use and championing small businesses with my Best Local Shop competition.

Speech in Parliament - 30th December 2020

One concern that I share with the hon. Member for Birmingham, Selly Oak (Steve McCabe) is about the certainty and clarity of the tiering system and what can be seen as a slightly erratic aspect of that.
