Backing our Local Highstreets:

One of the greatest concerns constituents raise with me is the disappearance of our high street banks. Just as much of our shopping has gone online, so has our banking. Many are on the wrong side of the ‘digital divide’ but this has been a significant loss to all of us.

I have taken this issue up with Ministers, on behalf of constituents and they, working with the banking sector have come up with the innovative idea of Banking Hubs. This idea is still very new but working with the local community, Bolton West has two of the earliest Banking Hubs to be delivered anywhere in the country.  

I am so pleased to see our high streets going from strength to strength and that’s why I always shop local.
