Welcoming a Minister to Bolton is always a great opportunity for me to promote our local interests, get our fair share of funding and show off the best we have locally.
Spring was waiting to be sprung for the - slightly early - St George’s Day Horwich Morris dancing event. The weather is almost as good as the performance and the gents final manoeuvre was to dance into The Saddle for a pint.
I have mixed feelings about Council’s across Greater Manchester now approving the third version of the Greater Manchester Spatial Framework, a process that started in 2014.
Speeding, especially around schools, is a significant hazard and I’ve been trying to persuade Bolton Council to put up a speed camera on Smithills Dean Road, where it goes from a 50mph to a 30mph zone.
The Council won’t help so I’m taking this up with the Mayor of Greater Manchester.
Bolton is undergoing redevelopment and we are now seeing more people move into the town centre.
Progress is being made and a key next stage is to get Bolton better connected with the rest of the country. That is why I am championing having a direct train running from London to Bolton.
As always, the last month has been rather enjoyable and shows the breadth of activities that are going on locally and also those that MPs get invited to attend and support.
Every other day, Labour is calling for the General Election to be held. On its timing, the only certainty is that it is going to be later this year as the Prime Minister will not trigger an election campaign over Christmas.
After ten years of waiting, the Greater Manchester Spatial Framework has now been passed by Bolton Council. The devolution of house building and industrial development was supposed to enable the ten GM boroughs to protect green spaces whilst marrying up new build with new GP surgeries, school pl
