A huge amount of preparation is required to ensure that our roads are clear of snow and ice during the Winter months so I was delighted to be invited to visit the Westhoughton Motorway Maintenance Depot and see the preparations they have made.
Often at night or around the clock, the dedicated Gritter Drivers and other Maintenance Operatives do difficult and potentially dangerous work in the worst weather conditions so that we can carry with our daily lives.
Part of the Conservatives long term economic plan is to ensure that our transport infrastructure is the best it can be. Just as we are investing £400m in North West railway electrification, we are continuing to invest in major road projects.
