A whole range of topics were discussed in the two debates: from the NHS, to education and on to the state of our roads. Whilst Bolton Council and the local Labour Establishment are widely seen as failing the people of Bolton they are especially failing the people in Bolton West. Many councils have focused on becoming more efficient so that they can deliver better services, Bolton Council is focussed on a range of million pound schemes that the people of Bolton do not support.
Challenging and replacing the local Labour Establishment will result in more money being available to spend on our roads. If the Horwich Loco Works development goes ahead, Bolton Council have a plan for a series of upgrades. These upgrades need to go ahead now before any other work is done!
Talking to a whole range of local business men and women across the constituency has convinced me that we are seeing a strong recovery in Bolton West with firms such as Stateside Food investing in new equipment and recruiting more staff and MBDA building a whole new facility in Bolton which will secure world class engineering and manufacturing for decades to come. Their growth means that they will continue to work with Alliance Learning on their apprenticeship schemes.
A strong and recovering economy gives opportunity to people leaving schools, graduating and in apprenticeships. We have created 2 million new jobs since 2010 and have an ambition for another 2 million. Since 2010, unemployment has halved in Bolton West!
There is still much to be done to secure the recovery so don’t let Labour wreck it.
P.S. As the BBC R5 Live event was held at the Macron Stadium, Neil Lennon popped in to take a few questions.
